    Hi All,
This appliance is tripping the electrics, been through motor and heater checking for low insulation- both ok. I checked door lock which showed just over 200ohms which seems quite low. Also went over the main board, cleaning carbon deposits off tracks etc. I tested it three times, starting cycles, draining, spinning all seemed fine. Customer ran a couple of short washes yesterday and ok but today has tripped again 30 mins into a 90 min cycle. I’m going back tomorrow to check over the mains lead and drain pump. Anywhere else I should be looking?
    Cheers Darrell

    Faulty socket ?
    mains suppressor?

at a 90 min wash would expect it to be heating at this point therefore its pulling power and things get warm and more likely to have an earth fault

Possibly a faulty element once it gets hot?

Can you sit with it until it trips?… then test Earth leaks promptly…

    thanks for replies guys!
went back to this, checked socket, changed mains lead and surpressor- still tripping.
live tested heater, not tripping electrics- insulation tested straight after-ok.
live tested drain pump just to rule that out also. Has to be mains board surely?

    How?

you are looking for an earth fault as I assume its blowing the RCD and not the MCB and the main board is well insulated in a plastic box.

what if there was a short between live and neutral at the board?

    Re: Hotpoint WMXTF742P tripping

it would blow the fuse or the mcb not the rcd

not to mention blowing a hole in the board

I would be trying a new heater for starters. 😉

Are you using a multimeter or megger to check the element?

I checked it for resistance and insulation, before and after live testing. If it’s the heater, how is it not tripping when live testing?
I won’t be going back to this one,but will try changing the heature in future regardless!
    thanks

But did you check the heater with a megger?

I have had more than one that didn’t register as faulty with my multimeter but did when zapped with my megger.
