    Hi I am new on this forum.

    I have a NEFF S5453X1GB/55 integrated dishwasher which is about 10 years old.

    I loaded it up as usual and switched it on to do a wash.

    After a while I could smell burning and so switched it off.

    The next day, I opened the door and pressed the on button. The drain impeller is running but none of the programme lights come on.

    Any ideas how to proceed from here?

    does not sound good with the burn smell

    but

    when the pump impellor runs all the time the first check is to make sure the base of the machine has not flooded. the machine is fitted with a float in the base that activates the pump in the event of a leak

    as I say its unlikely as I suspect the timer may have blown as normally all the lights come on but the pump runs and the prog wont start

    I almost all cicumstances when this fault occurs the main control unit (aka module) has failed. The transformer on the PCB fails. In extreme circumstances they have been known to catch fire, though clearly and luckily in your case, not so.

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I have since pulled the dishwasher out and removed the left hand side panel.

    There is no water in the base of the machine. But half the tubes on the left side of the machine have water in them. They look a bit gungy. Perhaps I should remove these tubes and clean them?

    How do I go about fixing the programme lights/timer/anything else which is causing the lights not to come on?

    Hi Martin
    our posts must have crossed in cyberspace!

    So what is the recommendation? Can the PCB and/or transformer be replaced?

    Or it is a complete new dishwasher?

    Thanks Dave,

    Will need to compare this to whether it is more cost effective to buy a brand new machine.

    Where about on the dishwasher is this part?

    in the door

    you also have to make sure it has not gone bang for any other reason. if another component has failed then if you put a new one in that will fail as well. From what Martin says its probably unlikely but you cant rule it out till you have checked

    if you buy a new one you will get a 2 year warranty and Neff and bosh are the same units so whichever is cheaper
