ParticipantHi
I have an old Zanussi WDJ1294, which has been working really well for the last 20 years. Unfortunately, the on-off switch has become loose and damage and I want to replace it. I believe it is about £10, however, I can’t access the switch itself. I have removed the tope panel, soap & conditioner tray and two screws behind the tray, unclipped most of the fascia but the fascia around the programming dial seems to NOT want to release. Can someone adviseI would be looking to replace the switch with the item below

the top of the programmer knob unclips. then there will be a nut inside holding the knob onto the timer

Hi Thanks for the information..
I didn’t realise the cover could come off the control knob.
I will order the part and report back.. 😀November 25, 2016 at 12:46 pm #442754Icek

Hi
I have managed to replace the button, even though the button fitment did not align properly, but the machine does switch on and off. However, the problem I now have is that when I took the programming knob off to remove the front panel and reconnected the cycles / programs are not working as they used to, maybe I have not aligned it properly or they need to be reset.Example on the wash cycle that my wife regularly used the powder or conditioner are not entering the drum as expected or its not draining on the proper cycle.
Any advice would be appreciated…

sounds like you have the programme dial with the letters or numbers on it in the wrong place

Take the knob off again then carefully align the display disc with the timer cam (note carefully their respective lugs only fit on one way). Then you can refit the outer knob ensuring the timer and program display disc are in sequence.

Tried this but the cycles are still not correct..
The knob is aligned with the lug and fits OK, the nut screws on OK, but the knob does not stay pushed in on ALL cycles for some reason..
Could the mechanism have moved above the controls as I noticed this when I removed the top cover and maybe the sliding bar that operates with the bar is now misaligned..November 28, 2016 at 8:02 am #442758Martin

Take a close look at that cam (that operates the arm) to make sure nothing is broken within. All 3 units fit as one, that cam, the program indicator disc and the push in pull out knob. Most commonly the indicator disc breaks as that is the weakest link of them all.

Hi Martin
The arm is attached and moves when the control knob is rotated.. The control knob is fitting into the lugs and internal alignment, however the cycles are still hit and miss eg Programming cycle C normally takes about 1hr for a complete wash, but it’s stopping after about 10 minutes.November 29, 2016 at 7:53 am #442760Martin

The program indicator is incorrectly located as I’ve mentioned previously. They usually break so unless that is sorted your machine’s programmes will always be out of sync.

start the machine and let it run to the end
see where the indicator is when it stops and see how far it is out. it could be 180 degrees out

Below is the part I am referring to. It links the timer knob with the cam and ensures the program dial is in the correct position. Its part number is 1246079014 😀

Hi
I have checked that part and it does not appear to be broken, however, it would appear that the alignment of the clips from this red part are not in place correctly. Please see attached picture.. I assume the clear plastic clips fit into the red lugs…November 29, 2016 at 3:10 pm #442764Martin

Excellent photo clearly shows the indicator dial is NOT located in the slots of the red band. In fact they are shown to be almost 180degs out. The two indicator lugs (one large, one small) should slot into the corresponding slots on the red dial. In your photo the large lug is shown in the 10 to position the smaller in the 20 past. Whereas with the red plastic the opposite is shown.. 😉
