Hi, I usually only use 2 programmes, mainly ‘fast colours’ and ‘whites’. When using ‘fast colours’ the machine will not do its final spin – it tries to for about a second and stops. Sometimes it stops pumping before the drum is empty but will do so if I put it on drain only. I first checked the filter, this was clean. I have also checked the pressure switch, this is working correctly and is not blocked. In ‘Whites’ mode it sometimes appears to have done a fast spin as the laundry is fairly dry and sometimes doesn’t. Also in this mode it sometimes seems to have got to the end of its cycle faster than in ‘fast colours’ mode. Sometimes the laundry is still hot from the wash and sometimes not, as if the water has not heated to the correct temperature. Generally it doesn’t appear to fill as high as I would expect it to but then I don’t know if the water level should be visible through the door. I feel like scrapping it but am loath to as it has not had much use (average 8 washes a month for last 6 years and hardly at all before then) Please help!!!

when these machines get older the power supply feeding the electronics on the timer fails. It does not just go but it get lower with time just like a battery running down. one of the thing you notice is the machine fails to spin, it tries but does not get to high speed. cheap easy fix if you can solder and source electronic components. if you cant contact QER they can fix it

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply. Soldering and sourcing components is not a problem but can you elaborate on what I would need? Is there a procedure to check that this is indeed the problem? I’m in Co.Kerry, Southern Ireland miles from big towns so as with most things it would be a home fix.
    Many Thanks.

I have sent you a private message with a bit more info.

component may not be the problem but is liklely given age and symptoms. its not expensive so its always worth a try

    hope it helps

Hi, Just to say problem solved with help and advice to ‘electrofix’ to whom I am extremely grateful. I replaced a capacitor on the main circuit board (Cost of part £2 plus postage) and all is good again.
Thanks for the Forum and thanks again to Dave. XXX
