Hotpoint Tcd970G heating element

Hi all i have one of the above ,upon investigation it was displaying error code 10 (heating circuit fault) and lots of flashing dots .I inspected the heating element and yes it was open circuit ,my question is looking at the element it had completely collapsed and would of in my opinion caused a short between elements with a bit of a bang! however no sign of blown wiring or connections to the control board just the elements ,is this likely to have done any damage to the control board and or associated electronics? (with element disconnected machine powered up will display all correct parameters and motor fan etc works fine until it discovers open circuit then goes into fault mode).
