ParticipantHi,
I’ve had a good customer of mine call today with a Samsung washing machine that is just out of warranty. Its flashing fault code 3E, which from looking on here is,
Tacho Error
– If Motor Tacho is abnormal, this error will occur.
– If Tacho signals are inputted less than 2 for 2sec after Motor started, this error will occur.
– Display : “3E”
– This error will be released by turning off Power S/W.It is a brushless motor and i’ll be honest I don’t get to see many of these Samsungs, especially this new.
I was just wondering if anybody knew what to look for apart from the Tacho (motor). Is there anything else it could be.Any help is always appreciated.
Thanks

It’s called a BLDC motor ,sometimes just the motor but sometimes motor and board

Thanks for your help on this guys.
I’m going to tell him to get in touch with Samsung. It’s either the motor, which is guaranteed or an obsolete pcb? Not worth the petrol to tell him. I’ll give him a call in the morning. As a side note, can they obsolete a part after 2 years? Is this legal?December 7, 2016 at 7:39 pm #443415smartin

there are 4 versions of this model and 3 board types DC92-00968A,which is now obsolete,DC92-00675A,DC92-00969A which are still available, need to know serial number to tell which one is on the machine or get part number off of board, nearly always pcb but worn bearings can also cause this error.I would hazard a guess at it being the 969a board.
hope this helps.December 7, 2016 at 7:56 pm #443416kaibart

There are some supply issues with the part at present, no idea why Connect have marked it as obsolete though as it’s definitely not.

9 times out fo 10 its pcb
best to take part number of old pcb
would also get samung to put a new motor in in case its faulty motor
you dont want to stick a new pcb in for dodgy motor to take it out
ally

You’re not going to get a new motor fitted just “in case” to save a third party company blowing a pcb when they fit it.
