ParticipantHi, I have a Bosch SGV57T03GB/02 integrated dishwasher approx 12 years old that no longer fills with water. For a while the solenoid in the Aquastop valve at the mains water inlet connection made occasional ‘clonking’ noises. Then one day opened the door and the dishes were still dirty (but no water in the base ). Allowing for the noise I suspected the inlet solenoid valve, so disassembled that but solenoid was good and when separately connected to mains power allowed water in to the machine (I’m an ex electronics engineer so skilled enough for this task!). Removed the left side panel and found a blocked hose that connects to the sump pump, cleaned that and thought I’d solved it …. no such luck, Checked the pressure chamber microswitches … they’re good and removed the whole assembly, draining the plastic storage tank in the process, to clean the float and check the pressure switch woarked (also good). Checked the sump pump for blockages and put the whole lot back together hoping all would be well ….. no such luck! Switch on results in various clicks and whirrs (main motor seems to run continuously) but, the now empty, water tank does not fill. Main inlet water solenoid valve is not being activated hence tank not filling. Not water in base tray, water level float not activated ….. Now I really need help!! Be gratefull for some ideas and words of wisdom.

is it the drain pump or main motor that is running ?

Hi Dave, I’m fairly sure it’s the main motor as I put a mark on the end of the motor shaft

check you have the wiring back on the metering unit microswitches. double check the pressure switch is in the empty position.
check wiring from Valve and microswitches to the timer in the door
open the timer and look for blown triacs

The ‘drain valve’ on the salt container (the one on the RHS) could well be at fault. Was the heat exchanger chamber (aka “plastic storage tank”) fairly full of water prior to you draining it?

Hi Martin,
Not sure where the drain valve on the salt container is or what it looks like …. can you elaborate? Never put salt in the container as we have a water softener. I have sucked out all the water from the salt container hoping that would encourage filling…. the whole thing is now bone dry.
The plastic storage tank behind the left side panel was virtually full of water. When I removed it from the pressure chamber assembly a lot of water drained out (thankfully had an aquatic to suck it all up before it went everywhere).
Thanks for your reply.

Hi Dave,
Have checked micro switches and correct placement of connectors, float is in empty position (there is no water in the chamber or the machine ….. sucked it all out.
I have had a look at the control pcb, no obvious visual signs of problems (nor sure which devices are the trials on the board).
Which valve are we talking about to check wiring? Not sure how the wiring runs from the inlet solenoid valve to the control board or if it goes via another component or connector. I will check wiring from micro switches etc tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.

Salt container, two valves side by side, the one on the right.

Directly under the water container, right there! You can’t miss them and the one on the right releases the water into the tub. Unless that water releases the machine will no longer fill.
