ParticipantHotpoint TCFS835 condenser driers.
Just got a pair of these driers (about a month old)……. don’t ask why… I know. They looked nice – apparently. :eeek:
Both have given the same fault. Drier goes completely dead; no lights, no response from buttons, nothing. The first one did it within two weeks; just left it unplugged overnight, plugged in the next day and everything came back on and has been working fine since. Now the other one has done it. I am going to leave it unplugged until tonight and see if it ‘resets’.
Is this a problem with these newer driers and what causes it? It is as if the machine shuts itself down which you would normally think was due to overheating. Both condensers are squeaky clean and the water drains into a standpipe. They are used a lot but faulting already at a month old? Might have to get Hotpoint out but if they plug it in and it works there could be red faces. Anyone know why this could be happening?Cheers,
Steve.

Well well……….
Left it off then plugged it back in at lunchtime – still nothing. Wife has already booked Hotpoint to come (10th January!). Then checked around 2pm and it’s back up and running. Weird……… :rolls:
I’m sure it’s module related but any other info would be appreciated as it seems strange that both driers would give the same faults. Seems as if they are set up to limit your usage? That last statement was ridiculous…….. or is it?Steve.

I don’t suppose you have the commercial code or 12NC?

Got it! Commercial code 90145.
As mentioned, it could be something to do with ambient temperature so if its in a garage, shed or similar, you may be best advised to relocate it.

Thanks for the replies! Model numbers as requested:-
Model:- TCFS835BGP(UK)
Ind Code:- 95901450100.
Serial no:- 611096118.Model:- TCFS835BGP(UK)
Ind Code:- 9590145100.
Serial no:- 611096122.They are both sited next to each other on top of two washers. The room can get a little cold at night, but probably never below 5 degrees as the 2 fridge freezers (next to them) are working fine. (also new). But when the driers are running it can get quite warm in there. (20 degrees). The room is being reconstructed as we had a bad flood and lost most of our appliances in one hit. They were two 1996 Hotpoint TL31’s and they rarely failed. There will be a radiator being fitted in there this week so that should level the ambient.
Only thing I don’t get is why one cut out and the other one was running; the room was warm and now the reverse has happened……….I had thought of ambient temperature but would that cause the machines to shut down completely for around 24 hours – and why one and not the other? Surely as the ambient rises, they should come back on. And surely the warmth of the driers running wouldn’t make them stop as they are usually installed in laundry rooms or kitchens which can get very warm indeed at times.
Also noticed (on both driers) that when the control knob is turned to a program, sometimes the display and beeps take 5 seconds to react; sometimes it is immediate.
Any further thoughts?Cheers,
Steve.
