ParticipantHello
Would be very grateful if someone could help.
I have a Zanussi washing machine that is completely unresponsive, no lights come on, no sound, nothing happens when i try to turn it on.
Model number – ZWG6120K
Serial number – 41700292
Product number – 914908004/03My friend, who has much more technical knowledge than me has checked that there is 240v going into the control board PCB so the power is ok and the fuze is ok.
I have sent the control board PCB to EMW Electronics who two people have recommended very highly, and they have checked it and say there is no fault with it.
I have been advised to check all the wiring and connections especially to the display unit behind the front of the machine where the buttons and dials are. My friend is going to check the wires and connections when the control board PCB is posted back to me.
I have not had the front display unit checked yet. EMW Electronics did not think the problem would be with the display unit behind the front of the machine. But if the wires and connections are OK it looks like the problem could be with the front display unit board. Or maybe this is a second PCB.
Any advice would be very much appreciated, I apologize if the words I am using are incorrect, I don’t have much technical knowledge at all, but my friend does and he will help me with any advice offered.
Thank you

Your friend may have checked already but…240v supply to the pcb alone isn’t enough…it also needs a neutral feed (0v). These can be checked by continuity of course not by live testing.
Also, try plugging another device into the supply socket to see if that functions which will rule out a supply fault.
It’s highly unlikely to be the display board, wiring more likely but still rare.
EMW are very reputable and if they say the pcb is ok then that would be good enough for me.

Hi Clive
Thanks very much for your reply. I will ask my friend to check the neutral feed.
I tried something else in the supply socket and it worked.
I explained the situation to someone else on the phone and sent them pictures and the model number etc. They texted me the following,
“The front pub controls the main one at the back, check the wiring and connections, if they are ok you will need a front control board.’
I suppose ‘pub’ was auto-corrected and was meant to be ‘pcb’.
Does this make sense to you – do some machines have two pcbs?
Thanks

Well…anything is possible! The main thing is to follow a logical fault finding path…and logic says that if the main pcb has a live and neutral supply, and is known to be good then realistically that only leaves the display board…
