ParticipantHi, I’d appreciate some help about where to get started trying to solve a fault with the drying timer on our washer dryer. The problem is a little weird so I’ll describe as best I can …
When the machine is in drying mode the timer counts down too quickly. It seems to start out counting at the right time but seems to get quicker as the cycle progresses. For example the cycle I just ran was 2 hours and I sat and watched it like a hawk for about 20 – 30 minutes and it appeared to be counting OK. A little while later I noticed the minutes were counting down too quickly and with the aid of a stopwatch was able to time that the minutes were counting down at exactly 20 second intervals. Then with about 1 hour 12 mins left on the clock I walked away to write this post and about 3 minutes later the machine had finished and the timer was at zero so it must have dramatically sped up again at some point.
I’ve been looking around the web and in the forums here and haven’t found much to go on so was hoping for some help, could it be a case of simply performing some reset somewhere or is the timer just faulty? My gut feeling says that the timer behaves OK when the machine is washing rather than drying which seems odd.
There are no error codes displayed which makes me think that it isn’t a faulty sensor but I’m no expert on these matters so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Simon

The big question is, are the items dry when it finishes?

Clothes are still wet, to add to my initial description I think the heat is working (door of machine feels hot) and the drum turns it just doesn’t run for long enough.

Old post but you may still have the machine.
Seems odd to me too but having a guess I think the fault might lie with the tumble dryer element…..which sounds somewhat crazy but maybe not so! Think element has gone to earth but not enough to take out any house trip. As element gets hotter the more earth leakage you can get and if the earth fault backfeeds to the main pcb it will temporarily cause all sorts of problems such as skipping programmes and maybe time count down. Usually I find that you can get the fault happening on the wash and rinse programmes of all things rather than on t/dry but there are variations as to how elements can fail or rather the degree to how much they fail and how the appliance is wired. I once even had an element fail in such a way that it became a weak battery, weird! -
