In Fast Spin mode, our Hotpoint WMA33 washing machine makes a noise like a dive bomber, so it will obviously need a new drum bearing.

If I can get hold of a hardly-used WMA31 (from same year’s range), would I be able to swap over the fascia/electronics from my WMA33 and effectively have a hardly-used WMA33?

Likewise, could a good-condition WMA34 (1000 maximum spin, from the following year’s range) be given the fascia and electronics from my WMA33 to gain the 1300 (variable) spin and the temperature controls, etc?

Or is there more to it than that?

    Thanks!

If it is under 5 years old Hotpoint will replace the Drum Assembly complete for LABOUR ONLY (usually around £90) so that may well save you the hastle I expect 😀

” do not bother replacing the bearing for labour only . Waste of money . The replacement will not last a year . scrap it and buy a new washer. not hotpoint though nor hoover. Bad design and The bearing are very cheap and will not last . Go for servis or indesit, bosch or Zanussi at a push ” alan g

    Alang,
You would honestly recommend that people go and buy Servis or Indesit? I take it that this “advice” is based on your years of experience in the trade and a study of the recurrent problems which appear in these forums?

Get real – Hotpoint washers have their own problems, which the company has to some extent addressed. Indesit and Servis? Limitless problems which are extensively documented throughout these forums and totally unaddressed by their manufacturers. A total waste of £200. Hoover is adequate, could do better, Zanussi is a bit better, and Bosch offers customers reasonable value for money coupled to a two year warranty.

Rather than than pull alang’s comments, I would advise UKW readers to ask questions. Honest, considered opinions will be forthcoming from the Trade members; which I can assure you will not include advising people to waste their money on rubbish.

    Regards,
    Penguin45.
