I have just bought a 32 litre freezer for my daughter at university. The journey time there is 3 hours. I want to fill the freezer with frozen ready meals that I have made and transport it to my daughter, and then plug in once i get there. Will the food stay frozen for that length of time given the door is left shut? also do i need to wait 3 hours once i get there for the gases to settle before switching on?
all advice very welcome. Many thanks Katie

After moving it you should really let it stand overnight, eight hours at least or you may well choke the system and if you do, it’s had it.

    Hi

If the appliance is kept upright then a 1hr stand before use would be ok but if you intend to lie it on its side or day then do not transport it when its still frozen or contains frozen food as the refrigerant pressure changes with the internal temperatures which could cause the oil to be pushed fully round where you do not want it to go.

The long and short of it is… it’s not advisable to do that and could go horribly wrong quite easily.

You might get away with it but it’s dodgy.
