Drain pump contacts (Hoover HNL 6166)

Hi are there any washing machine engineers who know whether it matters if you put the contacts for a drain pump in the wrong way round?

I was told that it didn’t matter but the drain pump has L and N on its sockets. I’ve looked at the wiring diagram but both wires are the same colour and both come from the control panel so I can’t tell which is live and which is neutral :s.

I’m a bit nervous of putting in the new pump because it took 10 days for the part to arrive and I don’t want to have to order another one :S
