    Hi there,
I have a neff integrated dishwasher:
    Enr S5453X1GB/72
    FD 8601
    It is 11 years old
It was covered under an insurance policy but is now considered too old.
The lights do not come on and it doesn’t respond to any button press. There is power at the socket and I have checked the fuse in the plug.
Is there anything else I can check myself such as an internal fuse? I just want to try basic investigation before admitting defeat and ordering a replacement. Neff would not help
with any maintenance manual which I thought would be a good starting point. Any advise much appreciated.

No idea? Not something I have been aware of. How is it normally activated / deactivated?

quite often holding a button for over 10 secs. something a child would not do

look in the owners manual but just try holding the start button for 10 to 15 secs see what happens

No joy. have tried every combination of buttons for 10-15. Owners manual is a bit rubbish in that it refers you to the back of an envelope that the instructions came in – which I presume I, like most people, have thrown away!

I have checked inlet strainer and this seems clear and no obvious obstructions near the pump.

    Any ideas

see what you mean about owners manual bit simple

no yours has no child lock, I presume you tried the 2 buttons to reset programme

there was a recall on Neff machine around when yours was built
    https://dishcareaction.com/en-gb/neff

check if yours is in this if its not been done already

if all this fails time to strip the timer and look for blown tracks (with power off)

    Thanks Dave – much appreciated.
Yes tried the reset – this has worked previously when the power light was on but now there are no signs of life.
Not on the recall list. In terms of stripping it down – is it possible to get hold of a maintenance manual. Neff said no.

More chance of winning the lottery without buying a ticket. 🙁

I’ve just read your post and I suspect the main control unit (the part attached to the control buttons in the door) has failed. To access you’ll need first to detach the outer decor panel then the outer door panel. Tip: If you can dig out the installation instructions that came with your machine 11yrs ago it illustrates in there the fitting and removal of the door panels.

(Do NOT unscrew the, 2 each side, door hinge fixing screws otherwise you’re in big trouble)

    HTH?

Yep, I thought it might be tricky. Is the main control unit a replaceable part or is it uneconomic. I am mindful that the machine is 11 years old but then again it costing me 100 quid now and it lasting for a couple of years is better than £500 -£800. I have taken the decor panel but outer door panel looks a bit tricky. I’ll give it a go – what could possibly go wrong…

Sorry, Is looking at the old control unit the only way to find the part number. It would be good to know the cost before I embark on this. Thanks

The link below shows the part referred to. The replacement cost a tad on the expensive side given its age so lets hope you can DIY fix it somehow? And in case you are wondering the link shows a Bosch part, it IS the correct part though. Don’t believe me? Then go onto Neff’s own website armed with the appliance model number (aka ENr no) and find the exploded illustration.
