ParticipantSo I was thinking about getting a Shark NV680UKT. It has come down a fair bit in price and I like the fact that the handle semi detaches so you can get in tight spaces but its still connected to the main upright part so it should have plenty of power. So I read here that the Shark is better than the Dyson DC40 but is it better than the DC 50? or is the DC 50 worth the extra £100?

Couldn’t agree more with my esteemed colleague. Look at the equipment used in major hotels and on board the main cruise lines and you will see that it is nearly all SEBO, not a Dyson in sight. 😉

Totally agree with Dave and others as I repair vacuum cleaners and have three small self employed cleaners that use Sebo every working day for their living. The only weak spot on them after years of hard use is the mains cable that comes out of the handle and breaks a wire, and after many hard years of use the slider switch wears out. Replace microswitch in handle and all running again.
Built robustly to last unlike Dyson plastic snap off broken lugs and blocked nozzles at the top if sucking up fine powders.FlyingBrick

I had never heard of SEBO! Just been checking them out on amazon, they look well retro and usually have like an E rating. is that because they are sucking the living daylights out of the grime in my carpet?
The price is pretty good too, now i need to have a browse about and see what they offer

Sebo are a German company who only produce floor care products they are market leaders in what they do and are the best.
They are the the only ones recommended by the British allergy foundation and are regularly used in hospitals along with their sister brand the Jeyes which have a much wider footprint.
The X1 and X4 extra with the longer hose are the ones to look at. The Felix range is a bit retro and IMO is not as robust as the X series. The five year guarantee and B or C energy rating makes them popular choices for our customers.
