Hi all, I’ve bought a new Miele G4203i and had a plumber come and install it. Having just run my first cycle I’m happy with it but notice that at the end it was still slightly wet inside. ie, there were drops of water covering the inside panels, a few little drops here and there on the cutlery and a pool of water sitting on an upside-down bowl. Not knowing what to expect I’m just wondering if this is about normal or if I should expect it to be bone dry (if slightly humid) straight after a cycle? I ask because in the manual it states:

Water remains in the wash cabinet at the end of a programme –

    Before rectifying the problem:
? Switch the dishwasher off with the ? button.

The filter combination in the wash cabinet is clogged.
? Clean the filter combination (see “Cleaning and care, Cleaning the filters”).

The drain pump or non-return valve may be blocked.
? Clean the drain pump or the non-return valve (see”Maintenance”).

    The drain hose is kinked.
? Remove any kink from the drain hose.

Given that this is new, i.e. as yet unclogged, I’m guessing the likely issue may be a kink in the drain hose? However given that it took about 3 hours to install this dishwasher the last thing I want to do it pull it all out again on my own and check so I’m wondering if a little water is actual just normal. Is there a drying unit and should it actually end up fairly dry at the end, if fully functional?

    thanks for any advice

if it had a drain problem it would go into fault mode as the unit detects whether the water has drained also you would be left with all the water in the bottom

did you check the programme you used got hot as a combination of heat and the action of the rinse aid helps to dry the dishes

Hi Dave, thanks very much for the reply. Based on what you’re saying it may not be a problem with the drain hose then and may just be normal behaviour, but it’s unusual to me as my last Ignis Dishwasher was bone dry after a wash program.

The dishes are more or less dry and there’s no standing water on the floor of the cabinet. It’s only the rear panel of the cabinet and right-hand panel that are covered in water. I’ve taken some pics this afternoon after running the ECO program last night (the results are similar when running the Gentle/Glass program and also the Auto wash). So basically, the left-hand side is dry, the floor is dry, the rear panel and right-hand panels are fairly wet:

    Rear and floor

    Right-hand side

    Left-hand side

    What do you think?

Looks pretty normal to me. That water filled upside down bowl certainly contributed to a slightly higher degree of condensation than perhaps one would normally expect. And especially so if the machine was left for several hours after the cycle had completed without opening the door.

OK, thanks, that’s reassuring, although it does mean I have to empty it every time and dry the interior with a towel which is more work than I expected.

I had a closer look and realised that actually the floor and all panels on the interior are fairly wet, and remain wet for days/indefinitely. The only area that’s dry is on the left hand panel around and above the hole at the bottom. Is that some sort of vent or fan?
