ParticipantHi all,
First time posting on this forum, really hope someone can help 😕
We have the Kenwood CK404 oven, it’s dual fuel, gas hob with a twin electric oven, one fan one normal. The other day the fan one just stopped working, no lights no fan no heat. There’s no heat at all from the grill element or the fan element. The other oven still works so i know the cooker is still getting power.
We’ve had the fan element blow in the past and the fan has continued to work so i don’t think it’s that, also when it’s gone before it has tripped the power in the house, and it didn’t do that this time either.I’ve had the back off and there’s no obvious damage, and I’ve had a poke around with the multi-meter but tbh i don’t really know what i’m looking for.
Any help or pointers would be gratefully received. It’s our pizza oven so we really need to get it back up and running! 😆
Thanks for taking time to read this anyway.

there may be an overheat stat but my money is on the multi bank switch behind the knob. look for burnt out contacts

Common failure is the main oven switch and, if it’s fried, that may well be what it does.
And Dave beat me to the punch. 😉

Wow, thanks for the quick replies!
Is there an easy way to test which it could be? I take it i’d have to remove the whole top of the cooker to see if it’s the main oven switch.
Is the overheat stat one of the small round things about 1cm across?
Sorry to bombard you with more questions!March 28, 2017 at 11:46 pm #446528kwatt

Switch is behind the knob you use for functions in essence.
Yes, 1cm round things sounds abut right. One will be a cooling fan control stat, normally open till it reaches temperature then it’ll close and the cooling fan starts. The other is an overheat, normally closed till it gets too hot then it’ll open and shut everything down.

Great! Thanks for the advice guys.
I was really dreading taking it all apart to check but have just finished. Once I removed the switch completely and looked underneath i could see there was an obvious burnt out section on it so looks like that’s the culprit as you thought. I’m off to order a new one and hopefully it’ll be good as new.
Thanks again.
