I was hoping someone could help with a problem I have with my fridge freezer. It is a sandstrom sff4ds12. It’s started making a loud noise when the fan kicks in. I have pulled the fridge out and removed the bottom back panel where the compressor is and the noise isn’t coming from there. The fan next to the compressor is running normally also. The sound appears to be coming from higher up, about halfway up the freezer section. When you open the freezer doors it’s a lot louder and you can actually feel the vibration on the back. I’m assuming there is a fan of some description behind the freezer section but I’m struggling to access it. Can anyone advise on how to access the part and also advise on the part that is having problems and needs replacing.
    Thanks in advance

probably ice build up catching the fan

turn the unit off open the doors and defrost for 2 days

then turn back on and see how it is then

    Willow19!

I’ve just removed all the trays from the freezer and got a hot hair dryer on it for a bit and the sound has stopped so I think you were right and it was just a bit of ice build up. Thanks for the help

The noise will probably return in a few days if you do not carry out a 48 hour defrost.

If it does then carry out the 48 hour defrost.
