ParticipantMy Electrolux ERF 2831 fridge is not cooling but the freezer is working okay. The compressor runs continuously. Can it be repaired?

They blow cold air from the freezer up into the fridge to cool the refrigerator area, its fairly common for an ice build up behind the back cover of the freezer compartment, where the fan is , to stop the flow of air so the fridge never gets cold and the compressor continues to run trying toi make it so. First step manually defrost the freezer compartment, hot room door open leave for 48hrs , you wont see if but there can be a lot of ice in there to defrost, if it fixes it great, if it reoccurs within two weeks or so youll need to then check the defrost components , timer heater stats etc to find out why it isnt automatically defrosting.

Thanks for the info, I will proceed as you suggest.
Just so that I can understand it better, as you say, they blow cold air from the freezer up into the fridge to cool the refrigerator area. I can’t see any vents in the fridge where the cold air comes through. All I can see is a back panel which gets cold and when it defrosts gets wet with water that runs down into a drain at the bottom. Or does the cold air just cool the back panel?

This isn’t a full blown frost free as the previous reply suggested so the fridge has a wet wall it sound’s like you have a system fault/weak compressor often caused by the installer not fitting a vent on the bottom plinth of the kitchen cabinet but then it’s something which can just happen. Another thing that can happen on this model is the inner liner become’s detached from the evaporator (the part that get’s cold) to test for this just press all over the back wall and see if it feels springy in anyway if so that’s not repairable.
