ParticipantI’ve just had two replacement thermostats fitted to my Liebherr Ksves 4260 Service number 9914616-00. Neither has been successful, mainly due to the fact that the appliance guy left the thermostat phial inside the fridge, touching the back panel. as the phial is too short. The fridge is freezing even on the lowest setting. I have now ordered the correct part from Dave but have a few questions about the fitting. The phial goes through the top panel of the fridge, out the back and back in through a rubber bung. Questions are, 1. Is it attached to anything inside as the old one has no give in it to pull it out? 2. Is there a temperature sensor associated with the thermostat anywhere in the fridge? 3. There doesn’t seem to be any access point around the rubber bung to see where the phial goes and how far it needs to go in.

Is the photo of the repair he has done or is the photo of what you have done trying to fit the stat ? .

Thats what he has done! I have since taken it out, run it through the panel, where its supposed to go, down the back of the fridge into a rubber bung at the back, but I don’t know where it goes from there as there is no visible access

That’s absolutely outrageous!
The stat should run through the top of the fridge and terminate at the bottom of the evaporator. If you give the round slotted plastic fixings a quarter of a turn then the evaporator will come away from the back wall a little and if you feel along the bottom edge of it, you’ll feel where the thermostat sensing bulb fits.
The real question is if the guy from John Wayne domestics has wired the stat correctly so you can fit the new one correctly.
Hope this helps.Cheers.

This may seem like a daft question, but where exactly will I feel the bottom of the evaporator? when I feed the thermostat phial though the rubber bung, where does it go then? The thermostat I’m trying out is not the correct one but I’m waiting for the new one to come. Are Liebherr appliances unusual in that I cannot find any information about their structure anywhere online? No service diagrams, but I realise this may be down to copyright issues. I’m afraid he may have rewired the thermostat also!

The evaporator is the metal plate that is secured against the back wall by the plastic fixings.
You cant miss it.
The thermostat sits in a clip at the bottom of this.
Give the fixings a quarter of a turn to release it from the back wall and feel underneath.
It really sounds like you need an engineer out. One who knows what he’s doing.April 10, 2017 at 8:56 pm #446715char14lew

You need thermostat part number 6151032, the sensing phial runs through the roof section with the power cables, it should then be routed behind the condenser ( black grill at rear ) inserted through the back wall into the fridge interior, as already stated turn the plastic screws on the front of the cooling plate inside the fridge and ease it away from the left.
This will allow you to see the pocket at the bottom rear of the cooling plate where the phial is supposed to go, it is carefully wound around a plastic insert that fits into the pocket holding the phial in place and in contact with cooling plate.

That is brilliant, thanks so much. The part is on its way to me but at least I now know how it should be fitted and won’t be shafted a third time!
