ParticipantHi I’ve had this barn stored for a few years but now need to fire her up again. The drum spins fairly freely by hand and the motor spindle turns with it. There is power at the motor but I’m not sure if this switches on the neutrals. On the spin only cycle it just counts down without turning the drum, on a full hot wash it puts water in the drum and gets rid of it but again it doesnt turn the drum and gives me a blockage f18 fault code. Can anyone help me with continuity checks across the motor or any other basic checks to start?. Thanks, Ollie.

Not sure where you got F18 as a blockage. It is a communications error. You need to check all the wiring connections for loose or dry joints. If all wiring is intact then the main power board may well be faulty.

It shows in the display as F18 and then a line of text in the display about a blockage. I will run it tomorrow and try to get a pic.

It is referring to an electrical/electronic blockage, bad terminology and confusing I will agree.

Ah that makes more sense. Are there any continuity tests I can carry out on the motor to check it?. I’m guessing it switches on the neutrals as its showing a permanent live feed with a demand at display

Motor is unlikely to be at fault, you need to check ALL of the wiring connections first, especially the wiring between the main power module and the control module. Make sure you leave the machine switched off and unplugged for five or ten minutes before going near the power module as it packs a hefty kick.
Faulty motor error codes are F01 and F02
This is what the actual manual says re F18
F18: No communication between microprocessor and DSP (Digital Signal Processor).
Disconnect the machine from the electricity supply for 5 minutes and retry the machine.
Replace the power module.May 5, 2017 at 8:22 am #447371ollski

Well its been unplugged for 5 years 😆 All the connections seem good and tight with no damage and the display module was replaced shortly before it went to storage. all the indicators on that seem to be working ok. Ive tried it on just a spin cycle but it makes noises and the drum motor doesnt turn.

As mentioned above, faulty motor ‘should’ give a different error code, faulty main pcb will give F18.

British gas changed the motor, pcb and code plug. All good.
