    Hi

I’m looking for technical specs on the Hygena extractor hood, model number APP2440. Specifically, I need to know if it extracts 30 litres per second, and if so where I can get written confirmation of this.

Any suggestions will be very welcome!

    Thanks.

Given that MFI that owned the brand went under in 2008 I’ll let you guess how much of a chance you have of getting that given you can’t even get a user manual any longer. 😉

I have a Hygena Extractor Fan Model APP2440 which is old. It just stopped working when in use so the extractors fan are no longer rotating & the light does not work either. Tried placing a new light bulb into the unit which is also not alighting. Does anyone know what is wrong with this unit, how to repair and if a repair is required how much would it be including VAT. thanks

It is probably a faulty switch/PCB unit, this one:

Can’t guarantee it but, odds-on favourite that it will be that.

Its worth noting that a lot of problems with cooker hoods are the result of bad fitting. The electrical supply to the unit should be fused at 5amp or 3amp depending on the manufactures instructions. All too often the lazy or don’t care kitchen fitters, who should know this, leave the 13Amp fuse in the plug top or spur box. Whilst the unit is functioning normally it causes no problem but when things go wrong it comes to light. Apart from the fact a fire could result the most common way it manifests itself is when a lamp blows. Sometimes lamps just stop but other times a high current flows as the lamp blows. Normally this would blow the fuse but with an over rated fuse its most often the circuit board of the switch bank that blows.
to repair this you will either have to repair the broken tracks with wire and a soldering iron or replace the switch. If this is your problem, if you open the switch you should see damaged tracks on the board

thanks for this info. Much appreciated. Have bought the spare part per the above link. Can you recommend a couple of qualified contractors to do this work in London where I am based. A 3 amp fuse is needed per the instruction manual – where do I check for the fuse location? I removed the PCB myself but could not see the fuse. thanks
