    Hi,

The motor on our ISE 1607 W washing machine suddenly stopped with a pop and a flash this evening. Other functions (ie front panel and pump are still working)

Stripping it down one of the power transistors on the MCU PCB has blown apart, and there are scorch marks around one of the resistors on the same PCB.

The circuit diagram tucked inside the machine indicates that the machine is a WM70.1 (diagram 80 886 20 -01). The motor resistance is specified as 4.3 ohms between pins 1-2, 1-3 and 2-3, and my motor is spot on for these values.

Before spending out for a new MCU PCB is there anything else I should check? There is no mention of motor brushes in the service manual / parts list documents – is it a brushless motor on this model, and if not is it worth replacing the brushes / what is the part number for the brushes?

    Cheers

    Chris

If it’s got an MCU in it then it’s a brushless motor by nature. 😉

Normally if they blow like that it’s gotten water on it, check that also. Otherwise you’d risk blowing up a replacement and that is truly soul destroying.

    K.
