ParticipantI bought a new element for a Tricity Bendix AW850W but it still does not heat up.
Even though I bought a part which was supposed to be compatible.
Now I spotted that the old element did not have a heat sensor/thermostat/cutout or whatever it is, but the new one has one. Please see images below of old and new element (fitted)
My thought I just remove the orange cables from the nearby old thermostat and connect them to the white plastic bit on the new element ?May 26, 2017 at 2:25 pm #447754Martin

The element you’ve fitted is for the later production model that includes an integral NTC. Using the element is fine but you are advised not to connect those orange wires to it but leave them connected to the external NTC.
The later element designed to fit the models with an all electronic timer (aka module). Yours, the earlier version has a conventional electro-mechanical timer fitted. And that is probably why it doesn’t heat it that that timer has failed rather than the element IMO. 🙁

Thank you for this. I am still ok with having changed the element, since the old one had lots of fluff stuck on it and was rusty underneath, so it probably has failed as well or it would have very soon.
So to search for the new timer I just search for a thermostat for my model ? and it seems to just be fixed with the rubber sealMay 28, 2017 at 7:28 am #447756Martin

I’m suggesting that as you’ve changed the heater with new and yet it still doesn’t heat then the likely cause is the timer. The timer is very expensive to buy new so to even consider the expense I would advise you check it out first.
To help with that : On a cottons wash cycle does the machine go through the entire wash/rinse/spin and turn off OR does the timer knob appear to stick during the wash part of the cycle and stay there?

This used to me my machine, but now it is my tenants using it. I have only tried it out a couple of times recently, but yes the knob seemed to be stuck and needed a little turn to continue the programme.

I don’t think you will be able to return as you have used the part
