Hi, I dont know if anyone would be able to help me? I have a Hotpoint Whirlpool WF310 and after i started a wash program yesterday it started to fill as usual then just stopped working before it had finished filling! It still has water in and is flashing red lights and ive had to turn it off at the wall. The lights that flash are -:

    Wash Enhance
    Reduced Creases
    Rinse Hold
    Mini Load
    Final Spin
    On/Off

I have tried to work out the fault code using the binary system as my machine doesnt have a digi display, and if ive got it right it gives me a fault for a washer dryer not a washing machine? I did buy the machine 2nd hand a few years ago and im wondering if it had been repaired previously with a main board from a washer/dryer if thats possible? Hopefully its just human error on my part and ive got the code wrong!
Any help with the fault code or advice on a good place to start with fault diagnosis would be most appreciated, and thanks for any help in advance 🙂
As a matter of course i have checked all electrical connections and wiring, cleaned out the filter and pump, vacuum hose looks ok, motor seems fine (bearing/brushes) but still no joy

    Thanks Again

Re: Hotpoint Whirlpool WF310 error code help!

Nothing at all to do with Whirlpool, made long before they took over. It is a Hotpoint with woeful Indesit electronics in it.

Error codes on this machine are given by flashing the On/off light rapidly and flashing a combination of the left hand vertical lights more slowly.
Are you sure about that model number because the WF310 does not have those features such as Wash Enhance and Mini Load. how many small knobs are there to the left of the main control knob.

TBH the actual names of the vertical buttons is immaterial, codes are given by number of each light from top to bottom.

Are all the lights flashing at the same speed? There is a well known fault on the main power pcb that can cause that.

Hi iadom, thanks for getting back to me so quickly 🙂
Ive just been out and checked the model number on the front of machine and the sticker on the back panel and its definitely a WF310P, there is only one small knob to the left of programmer. All of the lights are flashing at the same time with about a one second interval. Thanks again

The On/Off light should be flashing obviously faster than any of the left hand vertical lights. The row of horizontal lights are not used for error codes, however as I have said it is the left hand vertical lights that give error codes. Ignore what they are called and list them by number from to down.

Re: Hotpoint Whirlpool WF310 error code help!

Hi again and thx, the lights on the left are lit from top to bottom 1, 2, 3, 4, i worked it out to be 15 which is apparently an error code for a washer dryer? i only mentioned the horizontal final spin light as it is lit when the others are, and flashes also, the on/off light flashes at the same time as the 1,2,3,4 and final spin with one second intervals,

Re: Hotpoint Whirlpool WF310 error code help!

Those vertical lights flashing are supposed to be F15 but the other lights are not any part of a known error code.
As already mentioned the electronics in these are amongst the most unreliable on the market and they could be corrupted. The machine has got to be well over ten years old now so a degree of circumspection is in order. 😉

Does it say WF310 on the front right hand edge of the facia?

hi again, yes the machine is old now, yes it says WF310 on facia and WF310P on a sticker on the rear panel, thanks

Given what you say you have checked it does point to pcb failure. 🙁

Re: Hotpoint Whirlpool WF310 error code help!

Oh! is it likely to be a generic pcb fault on this type of machine , like component fault such as capacitor? thx 🙂

Re: Hotpoint Whirlpool WF310 error code help!

When the capacitor fails which is very common then ALL of the lights flash rapidly.

No harm in having a look, the common one is the largest of the three grouped closely together, look for ‘doming’ on the top.
