Our dishwasher has been working brilliantly, and is fairly new. It developed an odd fault (maybe two)- after running successfully last night, we found it with its lights off and intermittently pumping this morning.
I turned off the power at the wall and took a bit of time unloading it etc only to discover a flow of water started to come from it on to the floor- which I soon diagnosed as being due to incoming flow (through a portal on the left hand side) which had filled up the sump and was overflowing. I turned on the power at the wall and this was pumped away to the waste. I turned off the water supply at the hose and this stopped any new water coming in- but the pumping continued intermittently (more on than off) as long as the power was on at the wall.
I tried to turn the machine on “properly” in the hope of running a cleaning cycle but its lights remained off- it won’t turn on.
So to summarise: when it is on at the plug it pumps periodically, even if no new water is coming in – as if it has sensed there is water that it needs to pump out even though there is pretty much nothing in the bottom of the filter stack. Maybe this is a detector problem or there is something blocked further than I have explored so far.
And a second problem is that the inlet does not seem to turn off – is this maybe a solenoid or control board problem?
I have checked all easy to access filters in the base of the machine. I am reasonably technically competent and willing to try further diagnoses or attempts to make things work properly again.
I am also wondering why did both faults develop at the same time, and what is the connection?June 10, 2017 at 4:58 pm #448019electrofix

Hi thanks for your message
the base becomes flooded if i turn off the power at the wall because of a trickle of incoming water – which stops if i manually turn off the water supply at the hose tap. however this flooding is pumped away successfully when i turn on the power at the wall. after it is all pumped away, the pump goes off for a minute or so, then comes back on again for a few minutes, then off for a minute then on again for 3 mins, even if there is no new water coming in (because of the tap being off) and almost no water in the bottom of the machine, even in the sump under the filters. does that help?June 10, 2017 at 5:22 pm #448021electrofix

not in the wash tank base the base of the machine where it cant pump it out and water stays unless you mop it out
the base of the dishwasher is tanked. if any water leaks out it fills the base and operates an overflow switch that cancels any programme and runs the pump until the water is removed by hand

ok that makes sense. i will have a look – i can start to undo screws to look below the washing area- i suppose the first ones are by the filters in the centre of the base, does that make sense?

great thank you –
ok i did that in the past on other models so i will get on with that later tonight. anything else i should look for beyond escaped water?June 10, 2017 at 6:16 pm #448025electrofix

when you have moped it out and the float has gone down run it to see if you have any leaks
if no box it up and use itDave

hi i finally got to look at it last night. There was some water in the base. i tipped it out and then used a hair dryer to dry the rest- not enouth space to put a hand in the side. the result was that i could run a cycle. by the end of the wash it was showing E15 and flashing check water light.
it is very hard to see how water is getting into the base as there is a lot of bits all around it.
i did notice that there was water dribbling into the appliance as i mentioned in my original post, which suggests to me that there is a problem with the valve that should turn off the supply within the machine
any thoughts?June 16, 2017 at 8:08 am #448027electrofix

yes valve does sound faulty as water should stop
did the bas re-flood while you were testing it ?
if yes you need to solve this before you change the valveDave

Yes, the base did re-flood. unfortunately i had turned off the power and so this flooded onto the floor before i realised.
where would you look first for leak- this machine is more complex than any i have looked into before! -
