This machine when put on a program takes about 5 mins to finish but doesn’t heat.
Heater resistance ok and 85 degrees stat ok. The 65 degree stat is open circuit, could this make the mechanical timer do this?
many thanks DarrellJune 16, 2017 at 8:47 am #448207electrofix

Hi Dave, yeah it’s an old one mate. Only has three programs. When a program is selected, the timer continuously ticks and the cycle is finished within 5mins!
I found the part number for the 65 degree stat from the numbers on the side of it- it’s a special order!

if you disconnect stat what happens
am assuming machine is too old for electronics so its all done on switching and mechanics
could well be a timer problemDave

apologies for delayed reply Dave, i’ve been away with the family this weekend. My initial thought was the timer but don’t know what would cause it to just click straight through the cycle- then finding the open stat, i’m thinking the machine is reading the lack of resistance from NTC which indicates already hot and is therefore clicking through to finish?
I suppose it would be prudent to go back and disconnect the ntc as it’s almost £40 to replace, a waste of money if wrong!

prob wont be NTC just a normal stat as I don’t think there is any electronics at that age. so will only be open or closed. In those days they used mechanics in the timer to delay the machine at the heating position, Also sometimes a small solenoid in the timer to move it on when its hot

so if I then disconnected the stat it wouldn’t be any different as the connection is still open but if I bypassed it with some copper cable and still have the same problem, it will be the timer wouldn’t it?
