ModeratorThis has to be the worse fan element change I have ever undertook.
Smeg mw/combi oven. Nightmare!collection of parts removed in order to get to fan element!
fan element £117 + vat by the way.

does look a bit of a beast. twin transformers and assume twin mags ?
all modern Bosch use inverters

Its, I think Teka made, quite old now and yes twin mags with accompanying transformers, caps and diodes. Itching now from the insulation having to be peeled back. Thankfully this was a chargeable job, would not fancy doing that for a Smeg warranty rate. It was a model FM38X2

No Ken, that one is normal Bosch with Panasonic microwave bits. Pretty sure that one doesn’t even have a fan element.

Not the same machine but equally as nasty by the look of it.
Why they persist with these things I’ll never know, I can’t even see the point of them and goddam awful to work on.

True but can be good earners for us as the replacements are still a lot of money and a difficult hole to fill in ones kitchen.
