    Was the element bracket at the bottom missing?

    Sometimes an intermittent fan fault can cause this.

    When the fan gets hot it can slow down or seize.

    Was this on a Hotpoint ?

    I thought it was a Hotpoint or Creda as they use the same element and fan on a lot of there models.

    A very common element, Hotpoint, Creda, Belling, Jackson, Cannon, General Electric, Indesit etc.
