ParticipantThe door lock hook on my W288 just got broken off (don’t ask! 😳 ) and I’ve seen I can order one from UK Whitegoods, though it will take a few weeks for delivery. I don’t know, however, if I need to order the cover for it at the same time.
The hook is this one https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/8078973 … -lock-hook and the cover this one https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/8078975 … hook-cover
Both fit several models – W1407, W1607, W288eco, W256I thought I would try to remove the broken hook part, which appears to require taking the door apart as removing the screw next to it didn’t seem to loosen it, but once I’d undone all 5 ‘star’ screws (fortunately I have a star screwdriver set!) I didn’t seem to be able to get anything apart but didn’t want to force it in case another part got broken. I wondered if the cover slides off the plate with the hook but it doesn’t seem to want to budge either.
All I need are some helpful hints as to exactly what to do to remove the old hook and replace it. Once I can get it out I will know if I need to order the new cover too!
Thanks in advance.June 28, 2017 at 9:49 am #448521iadom

Best to remove the door completely, then using a small thin, flat bladed screwdriver the two halves of the door can be prised apart. Start near the bottom of the door then if you do make any small scratches they won’t be visible when refitted.

Thanks. I did try to remove the door from the hinge but it didn’t seem to want to move!
I will persevere with using a screwdriver and work round the door to get it apart eventually!
Thanks again.June 28, 2017 at 6:12 pm #448523catwoman1951

All taken apart now but the part that needs replacing was rather fiddly to remove! I do need the cover as the old one is a bit battered, surprisingly. Now to order two parts and wait for them to arrive.
Thanks. -
