ParticipantHello! First, desperate post. This machine is in pieces on the floor as I’m attempting to replace the bearing. I just can’t see how the black spider comes off and the bearing is removed, if indeed that’s the way to do it. I’d be really grateful of any advice. BTW, this machine is the same as some ASKO’s Thanks

I thought someone with more knowledge of these machines might have posted by now
these machines as far as I know were made by Asko
look up what I think is the correct part breakdown but cant see what you are describing. How about taking a few photos and upload them

Never had to do a bearing change but you do not need to remove the large cast iron bearing support frame. You remove the inner drum and knock out the bearings from there.
Note the word ‘bearings’, your first post says bearing. 😉

Ok, thanks. Yes, I saw the bearing kit does have more than one. The rear/outer one looks sound but the one i can’t get too sounds terrible and there’s lits of play.
Does the inner drum just pull out? I’ve taken the strap band off and there’s nothing retaining the outer and inner at the front, but it doesn’t want to come out.July 1, 2017 at 12:09 pm #448575iadom

Check your PM’s
I do know that some of the trade members have done bearing changes and report that it is not an easy or simple DIY job. 😉

Do not attempt to remove the ‘black spider’ under any circumstances. The inner drum has to be removed to access the bearings.
Have you checked your PM’s ?

The comments with the photos should of course be the other way around. Looks like i need a huge great bearing puller to pull the inner drum out of the outer drum!

With the drum shaft in a vertical position squirt loads of WD40 down the outer shaft and leave overnight to allow sufficient penetration. Then with the end of the shaft protected from damage (i.e Oak block) whack it with a lump hammer for all your worth. The inner bearing will have rusted hard against the shaft. Best of luck! 😀

If it has rusted as you say, even if I do clean it up it’ll never be right again, probably premature seal and bearing failure. Think I’ve come to the end of the line with this machine.
So, I’m willing to pay middling hundreds on a new one. What do you recommend? I’m thinking Bosch, SIemens, AEG?
