Hi Dave thanks, yes looks like it is the motor, it now won’t complete any wash or even the rinse and spin.
Where might I buy the brushes?Phil

Hi Steve removed the brushes today they are not worn, I put them back and tried another wash and this time it worked 😀 I then tried a second wash and it failed with the same E42 error so doesn’t seem to be a bruushes or motor issue most strange, any ideas?
Thanks.

its not helpful to add a new post on the same thing so I have merged them
if your motor went before and will not now check
1 when you had the brush out did it go back properly. they have a habit of sticking before they contact the armature. my trick it to push them down with a cocktail stick and then you know it all the way. also check the brush wire is on
2 make sure the motor plug is in correctlyDave

Hi Dave thanks for the reply the issue isn’t with the brushes, I have tried a reset and this appears to have messed up the programming, do you know how to do a reset on this model?
How can I check if the reset was successful? Thanks
Phil.

cant see model. can find WAQ283S0gb is that yours ?
common reset that does a lot of bosch
turn to 6 o clock
press and hold spin speed button
turn to 7 o clock
now release spinwait about 2 secs between each step ie don’t be too quick

OK further news, most odd have obtained information on how to do a test program.
Completed that after doing the reset, everything passed fine.
Tried a wash at 40 degrees, the mixed load, and the E42 error came back, noticed something very odd though.
I’ve noticed that when the motor tries to turn the drum it seems to surge, it seems the power is on maximum there’s no gentle thrust. Sometimes its so violent the drum casing hits the side of the machine with a bang, and on odd occasions the right hand side of the machine actually lifts off the floor.Surely this cannot be correct, then after a few attempts at turning the drum in the wash cycle, the E42 error occurs.
This isn’t correct, the machine never did that before, any idea what could be causeing the machine motor to do this? I’ve replaced the motor with another so I can’t see it would be the motor.
I checked the drum turning by hand when the machine is empty and from inside the machine turning by hand the drum turns freely so it’s not the bearing locking up.
Loosing patience and running out of ideas.
