Yes, an old machine – but it keeps working! It has had a few repairs which I could not have done without the kind help of the people on this forum. Thank you!

So my latest issue. Wife put the machine on, it started filling – and then gave an error 01 and stopped. Interestingly, a little bit of water was leaking out of the door and to my eye at least, it looked like there may have been too much water in the machine. I can’t say for sure as i’m not the man user of these device 8)

Switching the machine off and starting the cycle again got it going, but the machine had water in it already – and it seemed to fill it up even more. After it started, it twirled around a bit – then started letting some water out. I’m guessing that it detected too much water and lowered the level.

I don’t have the manual any more, but looking at some other Bosch devices I googled it looks like 01 is:

    F01 Fault Code

    Water intake timeout
    Faulty Aquastop inlet hose
    Water tap turned off
    Blocked filters
    Low water pressure

So – perhaps the fill valve?

Is this a DIY replacement – i.e. fairly straight forward?

Or could this be something else wrong. It has only happened once. We recently (two weeks ago) had our water main replaced (the pipe from the street to the house) and our water pressure is higher than it was before. Could this be a mitigating factor?

    Thanks!

the machine has a pressure switch to detect water height that is air operated. the air is obtained from a bell at the bottom on the sump hose and the pressure id fed through a hose to the switch
poss failures bell blocked, hose fractured or worn through

Oddly enough, subsequent washes today have been fine. I’m going to keep an eye on it though as I suspect an intermittent issue.

Would an issue with the pressure switch or hose cause the error I saw?

if blocked the pressure switch would no detect the water and overfill also possibly it can think its full and wont spin

As Dave says, the air chamber is the issue. You are best advised NOT to continue using the machine until you perform what is a simple fix.

Power off, remove back panel, carefully remove the small black rubber hose off the white clear plastic air chamber. The chamber can be withdrawn after unclipping the two latches underneath (see photo). Clean and refit….sorted!! 😀

What is the best way to clean? Just blow through?

Wash it in the sink with hot soapy water!

Ok, i pulled that little thing off and it was relatively clean – but the bit where it went into the tub assembly – was not. It was almost solid gunked up. I cleaned it out as best I could – and i’ve put the machine on an empty 90 degree wash now that it is all assembled. I suspect that a lot of this gunk is soap and dirt which doesn’t get dissolved with our regular 30/40 degree washes. In fact, we never do anything hotter at all.

I also blew and sucked the pipe – and noted that the pressure switch was in fact working fine (or so it seems).

Many thanks all for the help here – i’m sure this will have sorted out the issue, but i’ll be sure to post again if not 😀

This WFK2801 is a lovely machine. Not only has it lasted well, but it appears to be easy to fix. I replaced the bearing several years ago (with the help of you all here) and the way this machine is designed, you can do it in-situ. No need to remove the tub at all. Are there any machines today which are as reliable and easy to repair? Just asking as i’m sure i’ll have to replace this beauty eventually.

No the modern machines are rubbish by comparison. Not easily fixed like yours by any stretch. Keep it going and you will be quids in 😀

THIS is just one of the reasons that our washing machine does at least one 60C wash EVERY week, as well as helping to keep the machine clean, fresh smelling and gunge free. 😉
