Drain pump was blocked with bits of plastic 2 inch washer probably bakerlite material. I found the other bit at the top of the sump hose would you know where I can a similar type washer… I take it was to protect the top of the hose from the heating element. ❓
I did try to order a hose just to get the washer but these I believe are obsolete.. unless I have missed something… woulld be grateful for any help …thanks :innocent: (I am replacing the pump as it is looking a bit battered :tools: ) attached picture

Sadly that is a fragment of the main bearing/shaft ceramic seal.

Not available as a spare part AFAIK.

Main bearing failure is likely to occur soon, to be honest the machine is BER. 🙁

There is no danger in using the machine, as the seal has failed that will allow water to get into the drum bearings and they will rust and eventually fail. Is the machine very noisy on fast spin?

Very few modern machines are as easy to repair as older ones. A large number have totally sealed drums and expensive electronics.

A replacement depends on your budget and expected usage etc.

that picture brings back memories done a few of them in the past sadly no more

but you cant say you have not had your monies worth, there are not many modern machine that will last as long as I had to go back to 1995 to look up the spares breakdown

thanks for your help everyone … yes certainly had my moneys worth out of this machine 😀
…Drum not turning now :bang: it started for a bit then stopped even when tried on different programs.
So will check brushes unless their is a balance switch that has cut out?
I get the point that they build these now to fail quicker than the old machines and also difficult to repair …. but ideally would like to avoid sending it to the washing machine graveyard early … ➡ .currently looking at a Zanussi ZWF91283W ‘Which’ best buy for £300 . (as only two of us and not into extra thrills)

No actual OOB switch as such, controlled by signal from motor tacho and electronics.

All Zanussi machines have a sealed drum and a lot of their budget end is now made in China.

Currently there is a good offer from Bosch, they normally come with a 2 year warranty but certain models are on offer which includes a full five year warranty. It would mean increasing your budget somewhat but a good deal on a slightly better machine. Not sure how long the offer runs for though?
