    Hi,
I’ve just bought an Electrolux EWX127410W washer-dryer, to replace an old Zanussi one. I’ve noticed a kind of low pulsing/chugging noise at the end of a drain, and constantly while the dryer is running. I think it’s probably the drain pump. Just wanted to check does this sound normal? Is it normal for a pump to make a noise like that in the first, place, and is it normal for the pump to operate constantly during the drying cycle?

Everything seems to work fine; I just don’t want to ignore a problem if there’s one there. It might just be because this machine is pretty quiet; the old one was noisy enough that if there were strange noises during drying I’d never have noticed.

Your description sounds quite normal. The small permanent magnet drain pumps these days do make such noises. They are gravity fed systems and therefore those noises are more pronounced when all the water has been pumped away!

That’s great, thanks for the help. Just didn’t want to be ignoring any potential problem that might be damaging the pump.
