ParticipantGreat little machine (despite its occasional lockups) I have used for quite a long time. It is one of the only DVB VHS/DVD recorders that doesn’t have to be put into standby after setting timers – great! Anyhow I digress. A couple of weeks ago freeview has been playing with the listings however ever since then I have had a persistent message on some selected channels informing me to re-tune. i have been onto freeview who said the service signal had been turned off a few days ago but I am still getting the message. I have re-tuned, done a factory reset and done a “blind” re-tune (re-tuning without the aerial connected). The message still flags up a few seconds after clearing it down. Annoyingly there is nothing in the settings to stop the reminder.
I have today been advised to contact the broadcasters in question asking if they are aware the reminder is still being broadcast. I did ask freeview if the age of the recorder (5-6 years) would be anything to do with this but he doubts it as the standards haven’t changed since the bit rate change about 10 years ago.
Can someone advise me on if there is a secret code to access the service menu or something – anything – to disable these messages. Thanks

Hi
I have not seen one of these Daewoo’s I must admit but I have set up and sorted a lot of Humax PVR’s over the years.
Having read your post here and on the AV forums you need to reset back to factory settings ie when you first purchased the machine. You can do this via the attached sheet hopefully this will solve your problem.
Warning by carrying out this operation you will delete your timer listings, you will need to re enter these after you set up the machine.
HTH 🙂

Tanks for your reply but I have already done that. I was wondering if there was a hidden menu similar to the DVD hidden menu hack

In that case then the only thing left is the software update.

I feared. Daewoo shrug their solders saying “we’ve not made videos in years”.
