    Hi
First time vistor to this forum and must say it looks pretty good.

I have a 6 year old Hotpoint Condenser Dryer (Model TC71P) which as been trouble free until now. I has stopped heating but runs ok otherwise.

I did some investigation and discovered there are two small thermostats (about the size of 5p) above the heating elements. Both look identical however the on eon the left (marked with green dot) is open circuit. Briefly bypassing this has the dryer running normally and heating ok.

So I expect this is the problem. Can somebody confirm that the dead thermostat is unlikely to be caused by something else and suggest where I can obtain replacements. Part No is very difficult to read but looks like Type 261/PB also has 18(3)/250~T175K and the Manufacturer looks like ELTH

Thanks in advance for any help

    Regards

    Peter

Part number is 1701583 if the date code is after DC 65 and 1701557 if it is before date code 64. Comes as a pair, available from the Shop@. Handle the new ones with care, be sure to remove the mains plug beforehand.

The date code is the first 2 numbers of the serial number, usually found on the hinge or door trim.

Edit. If it has a green spot then you need 1701583. The green spot stat is the safety cut out, don’t run the dryer for to long without it. :lesson:

Excellent. I have now ordered these from Shop@.

I just ran the machine for 30 seconds to test it without the stat but won’t use it until the part is fitted.

    Many thanks

    Peter 😀
