    Hi guys

    I have a Bosch Exxcel SMS50E02GB dishwasher

    In the last week I have had an issue where by the cycle stops and starts, when it stops, the digital display goes out, and then randomly it will come back on and commence the cycle from where it had paused.
    There is nothing I can do to influence the restart. I can reset.
    While the cycle is working, water is hot, and drains etc.

    I’m not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but the first time this happened is during a cycle where a pan was blocking the upper arm from spinning.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    check the wall plug first change sockets and see if it still does it

    Thanks Dave

    So tried that while on a quick wash, I opened the door mid cycle (as this often triggers the issue, but will also do it on its own) and the front panel went off. Closed the door left it alone, nothing happened for about 5 mins, then it has now started back up, front panel is on, cycle is going.

    you also have one of the later units where the main lead plugs into the back of the dishwasher
    make sure this plug is firmly plugged

    Tried that, and at first I thought it had done the trick, but no, still switching off and on.

    Any other thoughts?

    It is however a power supply problem. For everything to go off then back on again is a power cut problem. Once the power is re-established it continues from where it left off. So if it’s not the connection at the back or the plugtop then it has to be the wall socket. Burned terminals?

    Thanks Martin, supply seems logical. I did try another socket as per Daves suggestion, but still the same outcome.
    I will just have to start the process of elimination I suppose. How strange.

    Oh dear, I don’t like the sad face!!

    Does this make it uneconomical to repair?

    Well it needs investigation first. Maybe a capacitor on the board is failing or the power pins arcing? Dunno, what I do know is that a replacement board costs £110 and to get the right one you will need the full model number before locating the part you need via this link…..
