The dishwasher seems to have stopped near the start of a programme, when I checked it there was water inside and the “time remaining” counter and the LEDs were all unlit.

If I reset the dishwasher by holding down two of the program buttons, or cycle the power, then when I press the start button I can hear a sort of “thump” inside as the pump (perhaps?) starts and then stops right away, but there are still no LEDs or time display showing.

I replaced a faulty flow meter a few years ago, so I am a little familiar with the insides of the unit. At the front of the left side there is a mechanical linkage from underneath the cabinet to a float next to the fill chamber – if I lift up this lever to trigger the microswitch by the float, then water begins to spray around inside the cabinet. When I release the linkage the spray stops.

When I removed the filter assembly in the base of the cabinet, and the little access panel below it, everything inside was very clogged up with food particles – I have cleared this as best as I can, but this has not helped. I have also removed and flushed through the fill chamber and float mechanism, which looked a bit clogged and dirty as well.

Advice would be very welcome, please.
