I don’t seem to be able to remove the pump trap from my ISE W1607W. The last time I checked it it was a bit tricky to remove and was obviously getting a bit scaled up. I cleaned it up the best I could before replacing. The trap will now unscrew but will not pull out all the way. I’ve run a de-scaling agent through the machine but that doesn’t seem to have solved the problem. Is another de-scaling cycle necessary? Any ideas anyone?

    Hi

More likely you have got something trapped in the filter / filter housing.. You’ll just have to pull hard and twist at the same time to get it out

Many thanks Bryan. I’ve tried pulling the cap fairly hard but only managed to pull the threaded top away from the body of the trap. Fortunately I was able to reattach it. Do you think it’s worth pouring lemon juice into the drain pipe to dissolve any build up of limescale or could that damage the pump and associated pipes?

Hi Personally if it isn’t going to come out then your going to have to bite the bullet and either break the filter and replace the pump assembly. Or get an engineer out as lemon juice wouldn’t normally help. We have them in stock also.

Re: ISE W1607W – pump trap jammed

Just an update on this issue. After a second dose of Sainsbury’s de-scaler powder I was finally able to remove the trap. Limescale was causing the trap to stick in the pump housing. Thoroughly cleaned all the limescale out from the housing and the trap can now be inserted and removed without a problem. Bit of a narrow escape there. Serves me right for not checking it regularly enough and not using any de-scaler. Apparently a bit of white vinegar in the conditioner drawer and a tablespoon of soda crystals with the powder should keep things in order from now on.
