My american style LG fridge freezer bought in 2007 has given sterling service up to now. It has developed a random “ping”!
Sometimes, but not always, the LOCK key comes on. Have checked the freezer and frig temperatures for several days and they are quite normal.
The ping is erratic. There might be nothing for an hour and then several in succession.
It sounds to me like a fault in the control panel. Has anyone come across this before? ..
