To quote a forum post I made elsewhere:

“It was recently working (in general – maybe the defrost heater wasn’t great, but otherwise) but slowly building frost. In order to fully defrost, the air diffuser (spacer?) in front of the condenser fan was removed and after defrosting, the fan would not run. The freezer still gets cold nicely at the back, but no coldness in the fridge and the motor does not turn and is rapidly building frost. I have given the fan a seperate 230V supply externally and it runs well. There is no supply to the light in the fridge, nor the incomer to the circuit board above the door. I expect there are multiple fuses and one somewhere down the line from the plug (which is fine) has blown. Freezer compressor, as I said, is still running ok.”

I’ve been advised by UKWhitegoods that this is unlikely to be caused by the compressor motor relay, as this should not open any circuits other than the compressor motor.

As an additional note, during the time I’ve been trying to fix this problem, I’ve turned the thing on and off at the wall many times (I know this is unhealthy). Sometimes the compressor makes a normal noise and others, when it’s been on recently, it doesn’t but will again after some time to rest, when you can then hear a click, which suggests a healthy relay to me.

So…. why is there no power? Where is the open circuit? I can’t find any wiring diagram or datasheet of this damn thing! (I’ve looked all over the internet and all over the fridge).

    To reiterate:
    – Condenser: healthy sound (I think)
    – Freezer: freezing bottom drawer nicely, less so higher up (clearly because of fan)
    – Fridge: room temp (I’d imagine because of fan)
    – Circuit board: no power supplied by cables above the door. Therefore, no LEDs, no light in fridge
    – Fan: no power supplied by cables. Fan runs ok plugged into the wall
    – ELTH 261F / C00112981: Replaced with brand new
    – Other, small temperature sensor in freezer (at the bottom): may have been physically damaged during defrost, but I’ve disconnected it, tested it (fine) and reconnected.

If anybody could help, that would be amazing!

    Thanks 🙂
