Liebherr integrated fridge, model, IK 3610 not cooling

I have a Liebherr integrated fridge, model, IK 3610 Index 20E/01, and Service No. 9987014-05.
I have recently been having issues with the internal fan not running, and also the interior light flashing intermittently. However today the fridge has stopped cooling, both the temperature indicator light and the fan button light are flashing.
If I turn off the appliance, when I switch it back on there is a faint ‘throbbing’ or’ humming’ noise in time with the flashing LED’s, then a click then nothing. It is though the compressor wants to start and then a relay cuts in and stops everything.
I have removed the fan unit and tested it, it runs ok. Having read up on the forums I now think it might be a faulty evaporator sensor? There appears to be only one fitted- behind the evaporator panel, bottom right corner (looking into the fridge), it has LEONI VDE-Reg. – Nr.7572 written on the wire.
If I Google this, it pops up on a German site with the part number 6942118. There is a part shown on this site of the same number, however it states that it is a freezer sensor?
Can anyone advise me if a) this could be causing my problem & b) what the correct part number is for ordering?
