I put a long sausage like door draft excluder in washing machine as cat had wee’d on it!! Went OK until spin then it tripped the RCD. Took it out and it was really heavy with water. Now machine trips RCD every time I turn it on. Can the machine be repaired and, if so, what part do you think has gone? It’s a very old Indesit W123.

With little doubt it is the motor that has failed. Either a question of replacing the carbon brushes and cleaning up the motor OR the motor is beyond repair. 50/50 odds 🙁
