    Hi,

I have an Samsung “american style” freezer/fridge combination, model is RSE8KPAS .

Unfortuantely lately I have been encountering following issue:

The freezer temperature shown in the display (-20°C) starts blinking and the unit is not cooling anymore. If I disconnect it from the power supply and reconnect it after a few minutes it reboots and shows the acutal temperatures in the display which are above freezing temperature. It will start cooling again until the error comes back.

During the bootup after I’ve pulled the plug there’s a 3 appearing in the fridge tmeperature field.

Now, If I enter the diagnostics mode:

The lower left segement of the 8 is lit up – looks like a UART Communication error according to the manual? Anyone guide me into the right direction?

    Thanks,

    Alex

check condenser fan is working , power off – remove back cover and there will be fan by condenser, plug back in, stand away from fan (safety 1st) wait if compressor starts and fan doesn’t run (this is where gas is condensed back to liquid – pipework in oval shape with grill going in an oblong shape). then replace.

3 on fridge appears as lots wrong i.e. unusual = pcb /try unpluging it / leave it a few min’s and plug back in just check fridge side if back evaporator cover frozen up? if it is try a defrost.

    thanks for your help whitevanman,

I’ve been browsing through spare parts yesterday and it seems that this particular model does have 2 fans, one in the freezer and one in the fridge. Where’s the condenser? In the freezer i guess?

I’m pretty sure the fan in the fridge comparment is working, at least I think i can hear it. I can’t say the same for the freezer comparment.

I’ll try to unplug the PCB if I can find it – any idea where it might be? Inside, outside? Freezer or fridge?

    Thanks!
