ParticipantNormally when a customer phones to say that their Indesit Washing Machine is just out of warranty and the dial skips around and the lights are flashing…it rings alarm bells in my head and I am reluctant to even bother myself to fix it 🙁
Just such a call I got yesterday…”Indesit W113UK where the dial skips round and round and the light flashes just once?”…I say, Oh Dear Missus! It’s likely the motor and/or the control module are at fault here, very costly repair I’m afraid!
She replied that during the guarantee period, Indesit had been to fix it 7 times for one thing after the other. Most component parts inside (except the drum..that was OK!) had been replaced. At least 2 motors, 4 or 5 modules etc etc had been fitted. She then went on to say the the last Indesit engineer left all the parts behind including several boxes of spare parts un-opened, including a new motor, module, eeprom, interlock, stepper motor and 2 pressure switches!!!!!!!!!!!
She felt sure I could fix it with the bits she had???…so off I went today to fix it. Sure enough the symptoms pointed to either the motor or the module. Now the motor looked pretty darned perfect and Meggered up a treat as being what I thought was OK, but as it was easier to plug in a new Motor than bu**er about with the Module and Eeprom. I unpacked the sealed box and plugged in the new Motor…BINGO!!! problem solved, took the old motor out, stuck the new motor in and then proceeded to test it on several programmes…Worked perfect, job done for LABOUR ONLY!!!!!!!!! 😆
Can I conclude by giving thanks to the Indesit(Merloni employed) Engineer whoever he was for leaving all those brand new parts behind, both I and my customer are very grateful

Now before I tell customers ‘it’s pointless’, I’ll ask them if Indesit have left a pile of spares with em.April 27, 2005 at 1:28 pm #133191Martin

All Indeshit machines should be supplied with a parts pack similar to the one yopu mentioned, I’ll email Pererborough with the suggestion

This is an integrated machine, right? I was called in to install a brand new one of these about a year ago. The original machine had come as part of a new fitted kitchen but had failed when only a week or so old and the Merloni engineer said it would take a few weeks to get parts. Customer demanded and got a new machine but Merloni refused to install it, which is where I come in. The second machine lasted a bit longer, just over 2 weeks. This time the customer demanded (from the fitted kitchen people) a different make of machine. To appease her they got her a Hotpoint. I was called in again to do the honours but this time some of the building-in ironmongery was missing. I decided to try and rob the bits from the indesit and sure enough, they fitted perfectly. It turned out the third machine was exactly the same as the Indesit but badged Hotpoint!
