ParticipantGuys,
I would appreciate some advice. I have a 28 month old Indesit WE16UK Washer (Serial No. 211288234 * 80251620100) whose drum bearings are starting to go – noisy, and about 1mm radial play in the drum, but none noticeable axially. Is a repair worth attempting or would I be better of putting the cash towards a decent replacement??

No! and Yes! in that order is my first expert answer. It is a tricky job changing the bearings and best left to us experts. Cost?….usually an independant could do it for around £100 all in maybe? It does depend on various factors of course. We have a good list of such repairers here if you would like further advice from them (click below)

Martin,
Thanks for the advice. I rather thought that would be the case. Unfortunately there are no Independent traders on Repairs@ for my area – so buy it is.I’ve been searching the site and it looks as if almost any brand not made by Indesit would be a good bet for a replacement. Shame they have gone downhill so fast. My previous Indesit did 11 years of daily washes before the drum bearings went.

Well, well, well, that’s the first I’ve heard of this???? If that is true (as it was indeed for WMA drums) then Indesit are in for an expense, that’s for sure.
Who are you “GUEST” ??? …and Andrewk…get on the phone to Indesit..NOW!!
