ParticipantBosch double oven (model HBM13B251B/47), fitted April 2015.
The bulb in the main oven has failed but all efforts to remove the glass cover have failed. When I try to unscrew it, it feels and sounds as though the whole light unit is moving and the glass remains stuck. We did find that Bosch offer a gadget to help unscrew it, but most reviews said it was very little help. In any case, it’s unlikely to be much use if the whole light-unit is loose…
Would it be reasonable to assume that it IS a manufacturing fault, and contact Bosch on that basis?

its not a fault a lot of ovens use similar lamp assembly’s

this is complete assembly from site shop
lamp unit clips in and a lug stops it turning. unfortunately by cooking in the oven burnt oil act as glue to stop the light unit being opened. if when you turn it the whole unit turns the part will have to be replaced.

Hi Dave – thanks for getting back
Before you posted I’d done a bit of online research and someone suggested that good old WD40 worked for them. Nothing venture…. We don’t use the main oven a great deal, so the glass is clean, which gave me hope.
Early morning, put a squirt on it, went off to have breakfast and left it. Came back, still no luck but gave it another squirt and left it. About 3 hours after the first squirt, missus had a go while I was shaving (couldn’t resist it, could she 😉 ) and unscrewed it! So the WD40, given enough time, may work for others too.
