The fan oven is only giving 100c on full , changed stat and still doing the same. the stats work in opposite direction, start on full round to min. temp knob doesn’t feel right when turning so thinking may be the selector switch but would this stop it reaching full heat,
Can anyone offer advice please?

Hi Darrell
on some belling cookers there is an overheat stat by the fan element if this goes faulty it will just switch off the element
does the temp indicator light go out as well or does that stay lit

Sometimes the thermostat pops off the locating prongs at rear of selector switch causing this.

had a similar thing a few years ago on an Indesit turned out to be a mechanical fault on the selector switch, a piece of plastic that held the sleeve that forms the socket for the thermostat had broken away. you could only see it with a magnifying glass.
hope this helps wilf

thanks for your replies guys, the indicator light goes out when it knocks the heat off Dave, and Seamy yes the stat had come off the locating prongs but it will only connect back in two postions- the other way around doesn’t work at all!
the overheat stat has continuity also.
The control knob doesn’t feel smooth like on the other oven stat when tuned around to minimum. Can you get to the selector switch without taking the top off-the oven’s minging and the srews on the sides probably won’t move for the grease? lol!

spoke to Dave from integral who specialises in ovens and he’s said what happens is people turn the control knob clockwise like on a normal oven which breaks the selector switch and pops the stat of the prongs!
makes sense to me- I think the stat itself is fine, it clicks on/off and changes resistance when turned on the multimeter, just have to fight through the grime taking the pots and top off now!
hope this helps -
