I have the above tumble dryer, which lives in my garage. Can’t remember exactly how long I’ve had it, but I do know it’s been a number of years.

The last couple of drying sessions have taken longer than usual. My husband has suggested it’s the colder weather, but I don’t recall this happening before. I clean the filter after every use and I’ve checked that warm air is coming through the venting hose, which is outside the garage window when in use.

There also seems to be some water on the floor under the machine, but the venting hose is still connected.

Is there likely to be a reasonably priced fix to this, or should I just go shopping please 😕

the dryer will have 2 heat settings and a lot of white knight dryers achieve this by having 2 elements. if one element fails then you will only get half heat which will still dry but take longer

see if there is any drying time difference between half and full heat settings. if there is no difference then you might well have a faulty element

Also, using a vented dryer with the hose going up and away from the dryer in very cold conditions can lead to condensation building up inside the vent hose, this allows water to run back into the dryer.

I have seen dryers in garages with the vent hose completely full of water and soggy fluff. This will also cause poor drying results.

Thank you. I’ll check the hose and see what happens if I go to half heat. I know the drum is turning so that isn’t the problem.

If I have lost one of my heating elements is it worth repairing please?
